Depressed scars, raised scars and flat discoloration are different concerns. A combination of approaches may make more sense than repeating one procedure. Tell Dr. Patel how the scar developed, how long it has been there and what treatment it has already had.

For surgical scars, bring any relevant instructions from your treating clinician. Recent or changing scars may need further assessment before cosmetic treatment is appropriate.

Plan for a course you can realistically follow

Ask how the proposed treatment works, what discomfort to expect and what recovery may look like. The settings and area affect the experience. A stronger treatment is not automatically a better choice for your skin.

Discuss sun protection, skincare changes and follow-up before beginning. Progress should be assessed over time, using consistent photographs and the goals you agreed at the consultation.
